Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and convenient location make this a winner for us. The food is very good -- a step above the standard plastic "Mexican" fare with some unusual entrees like spinach enchiladas and tuna tacos. The margarita menu is outstanding.

This is our go to place! The food is delicious, the drinks are great, and the jalapeno CCQ is to die for! WE love to go here with friends or for a casual date night. Seating both inside and out, and portions are very generous.

Fairly decent Mexican place. The menu has a few options of more American fare if someone in your party doesn't want Mexican. Nice atmosphere, not great parking, but you can usually park on the street near by within a block. They do offer a good margarita/beer selection, and they typically have a special that isn't on the regular menu that tend to be pretty good. I'd recommend trying them if you're in De Pere and wanting a chimichanga or some fajitas.

NOT GOOD FOOD, PEOPLE! Seriously, it is very bad food. That being said, I keep going back because it is a great location and nice enough atmosphere to meet up with friends and have a few margaritas with chips and salsa. In the very brief summer - the outdoor patio is lovely and service is hit and miss. DO NOT GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO EAT HERE!

A pretty good Mexican restaurant. The food is good, service was a little slow. It's has consistently good food, but won't blow you away by any means. Prices are very reasonable. I'd say 3.5 stars.

Caliente is like an old friend, reliable, predictable and someone you can count on. The restaurant is located in a cute building in De Pere. The service is always very good with very friendly well trained employees. However, if you're looking for authentic Mexican, this is not the place to go. The food is actually pretty good though. If you are looking for a comforting place with great margaritas, Caliente might be your place.

Great margaritas, great food. It's not authentic mexican food by any stretch of the imagination, but their interpretation is very good. Service has always been prompt, with food coming out of the kitchen in a timely manner and drinks kept full. Our favorites: Fiesta grande Nachos Mucho Burrito Fish Tacos

4 of us went to Caliente for dinner. I got the enchiladas, which came with rice and refried beans. I really liked my food. My mom got beef tacos, she liked them, but, she got the corn(instead of the rice), which she was a little disappointed that it was just regular corn (no spices or anything). My aunt and daughter both got the fajitas (daughter got chicken and steak, aunt got shrimp and steak). Both liked the steak, my daughter was ok with the chicken, my aunt thought the shrimp had a funny taste. The chips and salsa was served right away when we sat down and were excellent. The service and atmosphere were great. I think we would all eat there again, though my aunt would order something different.

Great neighborhood spot. Americanized menu, but easy to find familiar dishes. Very attentive service. Our table ordered everything from the guac app to shredded beef tacos, chimi, fajita, and I took a chance on the fish tacos! I was impressed with the freshness, and the rest of my party seemed pleased with their meals as well!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
